PAINTING
Long before I understood why, art was my sanctuary. As a child, drawing and painting were my quiet ways of remaining anchored within social spaces that otherwise felt overwhelming. It wasn’t until much later, following a diagnosis of ADHD at the age of 30, that I recognized those early habits for what they truly were: a deeply intuitive form of self-soothing. What began as a childhood comfort blanket has evolved into a lifelong, multidisciplinary endeavor to create, build, and explore.
While I myself as an adult have very much grown out of some of the early challenges that come with ADHD, my studio practice remains rooted in that fundamental need for focus. On the surface, my work is driven by the magic of turning pure imagination into physical reality - whether through the physical tactile nature of paint or the complex, technical world-building of 3D animation. But beneath the surface, the true driver is the process itself is the rhythmic, repetitive motion of mark-making and the meticulous problem-solving of digital rendering function as a form of self soothing. It is an intentional act of channeling restlessness into satisfaction, chasing that distinct moment of peace when every element finally clicks into place.
This intersection of creativity, neurological comfort, and healing is the core of everything I make. My digital simulation work has previously been utilized to help children with autism find a sense of calm, and I am driven to expand this impact. I am currently developing a new series of works titled Brain Scratches, specifically designed to evoke that exact sensory satisfaction and cognitive ease in the viewer.
Ultimately, my hope is that the journey I take to build these visual and sonic worlds resonates directly with your own. I want to create spaces - both on a canvas and on a screen where anyone can pause, engage, and find that same therapeutic scratch for the brain.
